Greetings! Its been a busy month here at AQUADRY Headquarters. The recent flooding in the Northeast has kept our family of AQUADRY Contractors busy on projects from Washington DC to upstate New York. The feeling is that no sooner do we dry out the Northeast, that a hurricane will strike somewhere in the Gulf Coast. We will be there if it does. We attended the DRC Canada Trade show and participated in a roundtable discussion on the merits of Hot Air Drying along with the folks at Waterout. The show was a great success and hot air drying continues to heat up the restoration industry. We attended the regional PLRB show in Connecticut and we look forward to a great relationship with the folks at PLRB in the future. Our industry continues to change as insurance companies consolidate and move their adjusters into regional headquarters. This consolidation will continue to squeeze out independent restoration contractors as local adjuster relationships continue to erode. The wave of the future is networking and making yourself different from the rest of the pack of restoration contractors, AQUADRY allows you to do just that. Just this past Tuesday a Regional Head of an insurance company flew up to New Jersey to meet me. He was there for one reason , because we were different. He can hire hundreds of companies armed with standard restoration technology. He took the time out to check out AQUADRY because he has heard great things about hot air drying and AQUADRY in general. The name of the game is make yourself different or face an ever decreasing market. ![]()
Thousands of people in the Northeast are still trying to clear away debris and grime after last week's floods. Hundreds are still unable to return home. The record flooding is blamed for at least 20 deaths in Pennsylvania, Maryland, New York and Virginia. Some places got more than a foot of rain. More than 200 people spent last night in shelters across upstate New York. Many others are still in motels and the homes of friends waiting for permission to go home. In a Trenton, New Jersey, neighborhood called The Island, today was the first day residents were able to return home to begin cleaning up and making repairs. The mayor's office says emergency workers had pumped out 225 of the 280 homes by this afternoon
Hundreds of residential homes suffered water damage in the Washington, DC area last week and several AQUADRY Contractors went into action. Technicians from AQUADRY of North Jersey and Aquadry of South Jersey teamed up and sent AQUADRY trailers and extraction equipment to Washington, DC to dry out and assist Insurance Repair Specialists on numerous residential and commercial structures. Operated by John Ellis, Insurance Repair Specialists (a Diaster Kleenup International Member) based in Lothian, MD was able to handle a tremendous number of water damage claims with the assistance of the AQUADRY network. An interesting aspect of this flooding was the large number of customers who were insured for sump pump failures. According to a local claims manager, sump pump coverage is usually included in most local homeowner insurance packages, as opposed to other Northeast states where it is the norm that homeowners are not insured for sump pump failure.
